Hi there! Just dropping in to share some non-craft news. Last Friday, hubby took me out to see Sarah Blasko and her new band 'Seeker Lover Keeper' at the Factory Theatre. I quite enjoyed the show and Miss Blasko, she never disappoint! Now here is the best bit. Being a long time fan of Sarah Blasko, what do you think could've topped my night? That's right! I got to meet the lovely lady in person! As the venue was small, they were able do signing after the show. I bought a SLK tea towel and got that signed. So what does one do when one meet their favorite singer of all time? I gave her my vintage hummingbird broach. She was pleasantly surprised and said she will wear it with pride (before popping it on her coat awww). Gosh I felt like a 16 yo again! but let me tell you, she is one beautiful lady in real life!

African taste sensation & Blasko's brilliance

My good friend Dinali is behind this blog title hehehe we went out Friday night to celebrate both of our birthdays (on different days this month). Our present was tickets to see Sarah Blasko at the Enmore Theatre (above). Before the show we had dinner at a rather unusual African eatery about a block down the road. We laughed and giggled our way through the amusingly written menu (delicious exclamation mark...different exclamation mark...) while making references to lines from The IT Crowd hahaha:

Moss: Subject: Fire. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you of a fire that has broken out on the premises of 123 Cavendon Road... no, that's too formal. [deletes text, starts again]
Moss: Fire - exclamation mark - fire - exclamation mark - help me - exclamation mark. 123 Cavendon Road. Looking forward to hearing from you. Yours truly, Maurice Moss. [sigh of relief]

Anyways the food was sensational and cheap too! As for the show, Sarah Blasko has outdone herself yet again (this is my 3rd time seeing her perform live). She performed ALL the songs from her new record PLUS my favourite oldies PLUS her own take on a couple of songs from movie soundtracks (below). I love her profoundly poetic lyrics, her unique voice and the multi-instrumentalists ensemble of a band. This is truly great music to me!

A line from one of my favourite Sarah Blasko songs 'At Your Best'. I was quite pleased to find out she's releasing her new album next week. I have pre-ordered my copy and hopefully have it hot in my hands when I get back from Perth. I haven't bought a CD in ages so really looking forward to it!

I'm off to Perth for a week to attend the Australian Society for Microbiology conference (so nerdy I know). It's my first conference and I'll be presenting a talk on my research - pray for me?
