I'm posting this as part of the Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change
1. SWITCH TO GREEN POWER
The best way to cut your greenhouse pollution is to buy 100% accredited GreenPower from your energy retailer to ensure renewable energy at home.
2. LEAVE THE CAR AT HOME
Walking, cycling and taking public transport will reduce greenhouse pollution and keep you healthier. Drive 10km less each week and you will cut your greenhouse pollution by 304kg each year.
3. ADJUST YOUR THERMOSTAT
A difference of just one degree on the thermostat of your heater or air conditioner can reduce your energy consumption and greenhouse pollution by 10%.
4. EAT LESS ANIMAL PRODUCTS
Meat, especially beef, has a high environmental impact. Eat one less serve of red meat a week and you'll save 260kg of greenhouse pollution a year and up to 10,000 litres of water.
5. TAKE FEWER AIR FLIGHTS
Planes create significant greenhouse pollution. If you can avoid one Sydney to Melbourne return air trip, you'll reduce your greenhouse pollution by 450kg.
