New year, new home and new church

Hi there! sorry I've been out of action for so long. I do hope you all had a lovely Christmas full of good food and good people to share it with. I sure did with my family. Well 2010 is finally here so Happy New Year! I wish you an exciting year ahead with lots to look forward to and accomplish. I know I have much to be excited about this year. This will hopefully (hope against hopes) be my last year as a PhD student as I plan to submit my thesis by the end of this year. I don't know how on earth I'm going to do it but I trust that God will provide all that is neccessary for this to happen.

Another thing I'm excited about is going to a new church. Of course Tan and I are very sad about leaving our current church family but we believe that this is within God's plan for us. We are actually joining a church plant in South Western Sydney that aims to reach people from different ethnic backgrounds. It is primarily the reason for our move (that and to be closer to our families). We moved into a lovely little unit in the area just a couple of days before Christmas. Crazy I know but we managed to pull it off with the help of family and friends. We are loving it here so far. Because we've grown up in the area and invested most of our time here even when we were living elsewhere that it has always felt like home. As for uni and work, it is only an additional hour of traveling each day so we don't mind.

I'm not sure how often I will be able to blog here when things get busy but I hope to keep you updated on what's been inspiring me and of course what's been happening in real life every now and again. I'll finish off with a truncated version of my personal goals for 2010:

- Finish up lab work, write and submit PhD thesis
- Attend my 10 year high school reunion
- Wake up early to have breakfast and quiet time with Tan
- Go to bed early to cultivate a healthy sleeping pattern
- Live a healthy/active lifestyle - run/cycle/Pilates
- Make time to rest and relax
- Try new cooking/baking recipes
- Be frugal - live beneath our means
- Save for US trip
- Don't accumulate junk
- Spend more time with family
- Reconnect with old friends
- Sew a piece of clothing
- Crochet a granny square blanket
- Knit a full scarf
- Join a local craft group
